Season For Cold Brew Tea!

While we are facing the record-highest temperature in Hong Kong every other week, there’s nothing better than enjoying a house-made Cold Brew tea! Not only it’s easy to make, but it could also bring out a different flavor of the tea for you.

We love the feeling of whenever we open the refrigrator in the summer day, there’s always a bottle of Cold Brew Tea waiting for us.

You could use almost any type of tea for cold brew. A cold brew black tea like Darjeeling or Victorian Earl Grey is great to have after a long day of work. Or a cold brew fruit tea like Peach Green or Fruity Rooibos is nice for a summer picnic day!

Benefits of Cold Brew Tea

  • Cold water extracts less caffeine over into the cold brew tea

  • It also releases less tannins to the cold brew tea, which leads to less bitter flavor in the tea

  • Cold Brew method brings out more sweetness of the tea, which is pleasant to enjoy in any occasion

  • It’s easy to prepare and you may enjoy it anytime of the day


Recipe (For 1L)

Ingredients

  • Tea | 8-10g
    You may use any kind of tea for the cold brew, however, we usually recommend using Black Tea, Oolong Tea or Fruit Tea for the more diverse flavors

  • Water | 1L

Steps

  1. Using a tea bag / filter paper bag for your loose leaf tea before putting it in your 1L water container. Easier for you to drink after it’s done.

  2. Pour in room temperature / cold water in the container.

  3. Have the container well covered and place it in room temperature for 3 - 5 hours for better flavor extraction.

  4. After that, you may take the tea for refrigeration. It will take around 12 - 16 hours for the infusion.

  5. Once the time is up, take the loose leaf tea out of the container and discard the tea.

  6. Serve it as it is or adding in some fresh fruit or mint for different occasions. The tea will keep well for 3 - 5 days when it’s covered and refrigerated.
